The Southern Oregon Education Service District is seeking a highly professional and experienced occupational therapist to deliver Early Intervention/Early Childhood Special Education services to children ages birth to Five years old in Josephine County, located in the Southern Oregon region. The therapist will provide consultation and training to program staff, community partners, and families. They will conduct evaluations to help determine the child's eligibility, progress and needs, recommendation and adjustment of equipment, input toward IFSP development, including goal development and tracking, and occupational therapy treatments typically provided to young children with motor and/or sensory impairments.

The occupational therapist will become part of the SOESD’s OI (Orthopedic Impairment) team – a team of OTs and PTs that serve Early Childhood Services, schools and students across Southern Oregon. The team works collaboratively to develop curriculum and programs that enhance the learning experience and opportunities of students who experience disabilities. Often, a PT and OT will partner to provide comprehensive orthopedic services to individuals or groups of students. Members of the SOESD OI team are provided regular training and support which results in knowledgeable, competent therapists who are valued and appreciated by EarlyCHildhood Services staff, school staff, parents and the community.

Position: Occupational Therapist POSITION GOAL: Plan, implement and monitor therapy services for appropriately identified students.

Essential Functions

• Assess and diagnose student's educationally related therapy needs.
• Instruct/demonstrate therapy/treatment programs to individual students and/or educational staff.
• Write, alter, review, update, and pre/post test treatment/instructional therapy programs.
• Coordinate therapy services for students with resource people, agencies, and/or others.
• Coordinate and/or provide direct parent training.
• Develop schedule of services to students and disseminate.
• Train school personnel to implement therapy programs.
• Plan and present inservice to school personnel and parents, and be a resource for information.
• Select and complete growth objectives.
• Assist in parent education in providing knowledge of unique educational needs.
• Participate in assigned staff school meetings and inservices.
• Establish and maintain positive, flexible, and cooperative relationships with ESD and local district staff.
• Represent program/ESD with colleagues and community.
• Interact and communicate effectively with parents/guardians.
• Schedule and conduct needed student staffings.
• Implement and maintain student records and forms.
• Prepare and maintain materials and equipment.
• Perform physical requirements unaided or with the assistance of reasonable accommodation.
• Perform job related tasks as designated by supervisor/coordinator.

MINIMUM PREREQUISITES

• License to practice therapy in the State of Oregon.
• Experience working with developmentally delayed children.
• School based service preferred.

LENGTH OF POSITION: 190 days (School year calendar)

SALARY: Per licensed collective bargaining agreement for 2024-2025 school year: $62,844 to $98,865 annually.
